First off, thank you for everyone who liked my first post enough to read my second, and if you didn’t get a chance to read my first one definitely go check it out! Anyways, in a recent article I read, it gave 26 ways (A-Z) to build your personal brand. I loved the ones that they gave so I have also attached the link to the article as well at the bottom, but I wanted to share a couple of my favorites and give a couple of my own interpretations and tips on these.
A is for Authenticity
This one is huge, it is what my entire blog revolves around. Find yourself, and be yourself. You are creating a brand for YOURSELF, not anyone else. The best way to do this is to figure out what you have to offer that other people may not and share this. Be confident in yourself enough to say “hey I am great at doing this and I know I can do it better than someone else”. If you find it hard to build your brand, you’re doing it all wrong. It should be easy. After all you have the answer already; the answer is you.

L is for LinkedIn
I HIGHLY recommend you get a LinkedIn and if you already have one, improve it. Personally, I have learned a lot about LinkedIn through a class I am in right now and it could not be more beneficial to me. Did you know you have a LinkedIn score? That’s right, they actually tell you how well your LinkedIn account is in comparison to other people in your field/industry/class/etc. Google ‘LinkedIn SSI score’ and it will give you a breakdown of everything you need to improve on and where you rank. LinkedIn is not only a place to find jobs and connect with other people in your field, but it gives you the opportunity to showcase yourself for anyone looking for a quick glance at who you are. So, make sure to have a professional picture, up to date resume and information, and feel free to share articles that you read and connect with. By doing this it will show employers a little bit about yourself before they even meet you!

E is for Email
I use my email daily, especially now that I am applying for different jobs and reaching out to anyone who I can talk with to expand my network. You can find someone’s email pretty quickly now a days so do not hesitate to reach out to them. I have made so many connections from just randomly emailing people I have come across that I think could help me with my journey. Being in college is like a free pass to meet with anyone you want to. There are so many people in the working world that want to help you succeed and would be glad to chat with you. Do not be afraid to build a network through email at first, it the end you will be so glad that you reached out to the people you did.

X is for eXamine
The only way to see how your brand is doing and how people are reacting to it, is to keep up with it. Make sure you are examining any results you are getting. This could be keeping track of you network growth. Or listening to people’s advice and actually doing what they advise you to do. You should always be looking for ways to improve yourself and your brand. This is crucial in the beginning when you are still trying to get yourself known. Listen to outsiders because they are the ones that will help you grow and continue to improve the way you present yourself.

These are only a couple of the ones from the list of 26 so definitely take a look and see which ones resonate with you. Now, for my readers that pay attention to detail you may have noticed my hidden message during the read. I chose the 4 letters that spell out my name “A.L.E.X.” because a big part of my brand is bringing a unique and creative way to everything I do. In every situation there is always a way to show yourself off, just look for the opportunities. Thank you again for reading and be on the look out for my next piece!
Couldn’t agree more Alex! These ways of building your brand that you picked out from the batch and decided was important truly is! I never took into consideration how important examining is, I will defiantly do so from now on! :)
Very insightful article! I loved your advice about not being afriad to reach out to random people via email, I think that is a great way to expand your network and meet people you otherwise may have not crossed paths with. Also loved your creativity in using the acronym A.L.E.X., very on brand! Can’t wait to read more of your blogs and learn more!
I loved reading about the LinkedIn SSI score! It’s one thing to simply have a LinkedIn, but a totally different thing to be ACTIVE on your profile! I agree that it’s so important to connect with people in your field and really use your profile to communicate your personal brand.
